Since You've Been Gone is a contemporary Young Adult novel written by Morgan Matson also know as Katie Finn. I absolutely loved this novel! I give it a 5 stars out of five. In this book there is two girls named Emily and Sloane. Emily and Sloane have been friends ever since Sloane moved into the neighborhood and locked herself out of her house. One day Emily went for a run and as she was running she noticed a girl trying to climb into a house window, so she stopped and from there they were friends. One day out of no where Sloane and her parents go missing without any trace of finding them. It had always been Sloane and Emily now it was just Emily.
Two weeks later a letter arrived addressed to Emily, but no return address. It was from Sloane, it was a list of thirteen things that Emily would never do. Except for this time, if Emily wanted to find her best friend she had to do them. The list consisted of:
   1. Kiss a stranger
   2. Go skinny-dipping
   3. Steal Something
   4. Break something
   5. Penelope
   6. Ride a dern horse, ya cowpoke
   7. 55 S. Ave. Ask for Mona.
   8. The backless dress and somewhere to wear it
   9. Dance until Dawn
  10. Share some secrets in the dark
  11, Hug a Jamie
  12. Apple picking at night
  13. Sleep under stars

As Emily started completing the things on the list she made three new friends. Frank Porter: Senior President and the most likely valedictorian. The other friends are Dawn who works at the pizza store next to Emily's work and Collins franks best friend. With the help of her newly found friends Emily completes the list and goes with Frank to find her. When they found Sloane Emily had a talk and found out Sloane left without saying goodbye because it would be to hard for her. At the end of the book Frank had broken up with his girlfriend and him and Emily had started to like each other. The book ended with Frank and Emily watching the sunset together.
This book is a must read. for any person who loves a good friendship along with some romance. Morgan Matson wrote this amazing book and her new novel just came out called The Unexpected Everything.
